How It All Started

On December 5, 1933, the 21st Amendment to the Constitution was passed and ratified, ending national Prohibition.

Fred Ertel formed his business, ErtelAlsop, in late 1932 and began producing filtration and liquid handling equipment in 1933. Eighty-five years later, they are still a leader in the filtration of distilled spirits.

Recently, there’s been a resurgence in the craft brewing and distilling industries. On the heels of this revival, Fred Ertel’s granddaughter, Bianca, and her husband, George, recognized a glaring void.

And then, Proof 33 was born.

Filling an important niche in the industry, Proof 33 was created as the one-stop shop that we envisioned. Since its inception, Proof 33 has helped people across the country bring their businesses to fruition by providing the highest caliber distilling and brewery equipment & supplies.
